The Reunion
(NESTLES 09)
What a night. We met at the Littleover Lodge Hotel for the first reunion. It was 1965 when I left Nestles to go to work at Pirelli Tyres Burton on Trent. Now 44yrs & a few months later we all got together again. Something we should have done 20yrs sooner it was stated. We had 82 bums on seats, of which 64 were employees at the time. The guests were family members or friends. We had a three course meal at £10. per head. Nestles of Tutbury came to our aid by supplying us with a free raffle draw of a super collection of various Nestle products. They also provided a star prize of a Krups Nestles Dolce Gusto Coffee maker. The products were split into 5 separate prizes. Thank you Alan for contacting Nestle & thank you Nestle for providing the prizes. I would like to say thank you to Dot for pulling my number out of the tin (No7) the Star prize no less. That was an added bonus to my evening can tell you.
My Coffee maker & Dot Thanks Dot
It has been suggested we have another reunion 2nd November 2010...everyone went for the idea

G'Day Peter,
I came across this blog when I was looking for bloggers in Newhall.

I was born in Burton and lived in Newhall until my family moved to Australia in 1971 when I was 13.

As I was skimming through your blog entries I saw you mention you used to work at Pirelli. My mum worked there during the 1960s - I seem to recall it was making slippers.
My only VAGUE memory of her time there was attending a Christmas party for staff children. But it is a very vague memory, I'd forgotten that she had worked there until I saw your blog entry.

Hopefully I'll get time to check out more of your blog before long.

I have three blogs of my own, one is "theological", another is mostly garden and "lifestyle" related and the most recent one I've started is about books, reading and writing.

Regards
Tim

Hi there Tim,
Thanks for dropping by. I was married in September 1971, this is when we moved to Newhall. Things have changed quite a bit since then. Here's a link to my photo albums You might find some things of interest there. Also here's a link to the Newhall community website Which might help you to reacquaint with some of your old contacts.
I am a "Walk leader" in S' Derbyshire based at Rosliston Forestry Centre which might help to explain one or two of my albums. I have since left the archery club in Burton due to rising costs in subscriptions & my pension staying almost static. I have still kept my equipment....just in case. Not much more to tell really, other than I am still happily married, with two grown up sons who live in Newhall, & Church Gresley. Swadlincote has changed beyond all recognition & it is currently undergoing further improvements.
By all means, keep in touch. I hope the links might be of some use to you.
Regards.
Peter
