John & Denise's Trip to Kingsway 24/08/10

Just a short visit to say "Hello" from Australia. I was asked if I could help out with transport to take relations of a friend to visit the Fire Station at Kingsway, Derby. I was only too glad to help. Below are a few selected pictures.

Our guest is a fireman from Australia, & obviously is interested in how it is done here.
















Listening to both sides of the job was very interesting. We do not get the Bush Fires they get in Oz & the distances to travel, whereas they do not have the high rise buildings we have here. You could get some serious window cleaning with this gear.

 

The poles are still in use, I had been told many years ago (well, not too many) that the use of poles had been banned  "ELF N' SAFETY"..... you know
