Yesteday was not too bad as far as shooting was concerned. Well, let's try that again. I did not shoot yesterday. I had been out on a walk as a walk leader, got back home had some late lunch, & waited for My Good Lady to finish watching her TV program. I did what I do best when waiting for her...I went to sleep. Somewhere between 4-5 in the evening. I came around to see another program ending. I was then asked "When are we going to the club?" I did intend shooting, for indoor practice but as it was so late, I thought "No way". The chill factor of the wind was not to my taste although the readout in the car stated 16degrees mild for this time of the year. The sky looked very heavy with low cloud, another reason to not shoot. Well, we got to the club to find quite a few archers down there. just as well, we needed the money for tomorrows Fish'n chips shoot. I sat & talked with various members whilst Carol collected the money. Next thing I knew, she was on scoring duty for a couple of ladies who are trying to get their indoor handicaps for when we start at the end of October. It was getting on in the evening & there were still two targets in use. OK, shooting at a target at 20yds perhaps is no big deal, but for accuracy? The mind boggles. Well, they are junior archers shooting long-bow, but even so, ...

We went to Wingfield, near Chesterfield today, LNER archey club held a 50/50 shoot. That is 50 arrows @50mtrs, 10-zone scoring & 50 arrows @ 50yds, 5-zone scoring . I did not do very well at 50mtrs, in fact, I WAS LOUSY. I scored well under 350 I can't remember what it was, but it wasn't good. At the 50yd mark, I did get 2 5-Gold ends (The end consists of 5 arrows in this shoot) this was much better. I do not understand how such a great difference of performance can be affected by such a short difference of distance. However there you go.
I did manage to claw back quite a few points, but not enough, I ended with a score of 785 (I think).

What was/is my problem? I could blame my equipment, but I should look to myself first. Yes, equipment does come into it, I think I should have shot my old ACC's, & not my new Tripples. The Tripple/Bow combination has not realy been tuned in: my fault I have also discovered that I have started to move my arm in an upward direction with a touch of side movement away from my face. NOT GOOD this will interfere with arrow flight. Another point to ponder; am I concentrating enough, or am I just letting go when I'm in the Gold, & trusting to luck???
Time will tell, I'll just have to wait & see
