Oh boy what a mess we can get into at times. I was asked if I would put on an archery "Have-a-Go" at Elvaston Castle. I went to see the site for safety purposes, had an agreement with one of the organising team for extra "eyes & ears". The site was sorted & we both parted company on good terms, both happy with business done.
A 'phone call, 4 days before the event, I was notified that the "Have-a-Go" was cancelled...on health & safety grounds. The contact I met was most apologetic, she was feeling very embarrassed to say the least, especially after going to so much trouble to meet me & arrange everything. Seems she was contacted by the manager of the Castle, who refused point blanc to have archery on the site in spite of her reassurances of safety .
This then begs the question. Why ask for archery in the first place?
