Well, Christmas is almost here, I have my new batteries for my Canon EOS 600D, I brought them locally to keep local business in work. My Camera grip had an accident a month or so ago. The 6 cell carrier was not secured and Crash the the batteries and carrier fell out, various plastic components were sheared off but still useable if I was careful. I have since binned the carrier and now I can use both new batteries in the as yet unused cradle.

It has been an interesting week, Monday through to Thursday out for Christmas meals/parties Friday we decided to put up some decorations. Minimal this year as getting into the loft is quite a chore.

I really must get down to posting photos. here is a favorite of mine.

It has been a long time since posting here. So busy I have not had time to look in.
So, the big event of the year for me is that on my last visit to see my Oncologist, I was given news that no cancerous activity can be seen. Which from my point of view is good news. OK, I'm not clear, but it is the next best thing.

Past highlights are: A loan of a static caravan for two weeks. My original holiday plans were scuppered due to family problems with our host to be. We dook Dad with us and he stayed the full fortnight, which for me was a bit of a bind. At 93, he is limited with his mobility, so all outings had to be either cancelled or altered to suite him. We did have the odd day to ourselves though, so we were able to go to places we wanted to visit.

A friend of mine loaned me his Sigma 25-70mm lense with a view to buying from him. A fantastic piece of equipment. I took it to Tenerife for a week in September, and had some good, and not so good results with it. I put this down to a learning curve. I used this lens almost exclusively for a month or two. Carol, my Wife asked if I wanted it, as she was going to buy it for me as a Christmas present. Naturally I said yes and monies were handed over...I had a new lens to add to my equipment. 4 days after the lens was mine, the fine focus packed in. I was gutted, these things are not a low cost repair. I do not hold any blame to my friend, I have known him far too long for that. If I ever tell him, he would offer to take the lens back and return my money. I have not told Carol either.

My walking activities are now in decline. I have an arthritic hip which affects my speed and distance. Shopping too is also affected. Slopes are now steep hills if going up. I have to rely on my walking poles, I now walk using my shoulders to push myself along which is a great help, also, I get a full body workout. I have been asked if I would be interested in a hip replacement. Yes, I would, but it will be too soon to ask, I know this, as a friend of mine has the same problem but worse than I, he has been told "It is too early for a replacement" Cost savings? Who knows?

Christmas is just around the corner, and no plans have been made. I have my pressie, Carol has hers, we have delivered some to family two weeks ago (They are coming to visit us this weekend) We have not heard from out eldest son our youngest gave us some money for food etc which was very good of him. Dad, well, he'll just take things for granted, and expect to be fed, bedded and watered, such is family life.

Just 12 months ago, my car failed the MOT big time, in fact I was told that they would not even start to look. The list was far too long to go into detail, but I got a reasonable deal on a Volvo V70 estate. Now 12 months on I need to look at replacing it, running costs are too heavy at around 25 mpg I have to watch my driving. Carol needs the car more than I, as her interests take her out far and wide. Some heavy saving is due.

That's it for now, I must restart my blogs again and with photos too.

I recently treated myself to some new equipment. It might not make me a better photographer, but it might make things a little easier to take the photo I am after The equipment I have now is a Hama Delta Pro 180 Photo/Video Tripod with 3D Tilt Head  A fascinating bit of gear

The center column can be removed and replaced 'upside down for shooting macro. At full length, it is over 6ft in height and it enabled me to take this 'goose' at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas near to Burton on Trent, almost giving an aerial photo quality to the photo.

I needed the cable release, and the screen out in order to take this photo. I could have done with a box to stand on

At full extention

Folds down nicely too

Looking forward to some fun in the futuer

Happy Birthday carol

Although Carol was 70 7th January we celebrated on the 10th at a pub in Burton-on-Trent, the "Burton Bridge Inn" we hired the skittle alley for the evening. Somewhere around 35 or so guests were there, 5 were not able to turn up on health grounds or other reasons. Due to fire regulations, the maximum number of guests is 40. A lot of us spent the evening standing due to lack of seats, but this did not stop the enjoyment. The skittles went down well (well, some did) with everyone, teams were organised and medals and cups were provided for the winners (thanks to a local £ shop) the food was first rate and not a lot was left. I can not remeber such a god birthday party we had family, friends from various groups such as Crafting, Facebook Photography group, and neighbours.
Below is a taster of the celebrations.
